LaLiga seek to move date for Barcelona v Real Madridby Carlos Volcano8 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveThe LaLiga has requested that the RFEF’s Competition Committee change next weekend’s Clasico to the Bernabeu from Camp Nou. LaLiga feel that the game should not be played in Barcelona due to the political unrest in Catalonia following the prison sentences handed to nine politicians and civil leaders.AS reports Spain’s Sports Council, as part of the government, is also against the game going ahead at Camp Nou on October 26: “As events are developing we consider that, in the same way as La Liga and the RFEF, for security reasons, it’s not reasonable to play this game as is planned.” Now it’s up to the Competition Committee to make a final decision after hearing arguments from both clubs. Barça are happy for the game to go ahead, while Real Madrid would like it postponed and played at a later date – and not moved to the Bernabeu. ANN ARBOR, MI – OCTOBER 10: Michigan Wolverines head football coach Jim Harbaugh watches the action during the second quarter of the game against the Northwestern Wildcats on October 10, 2015 at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Wolverines defeated the Wildcats 38-0. (Photo by Leon Halip/Getty Images)Jim Harbaugh and Drake have been linked together in the past. His son, Jay, re-created Drake’s “Views from the 6” cover to have a Michigan theme, and today Harbaugh thanked the Canadian rapper for name-dropping Michigan in a recent SNL sketch. Now, the Michigan head coach has taken things one step further, tweeting out his list of his top-five favorite Drake songs. He even included a rhyme in the beginning of the tweet.I’m not a fake, here’s my Top 5 from @Drake: 1. Energy 2. Jumpman 3. Started From the Bottom 4. Hold On, We’re Going Home 5. Hotline Bling— Coach Harbaugh (@CoachJim4UM) June 30, 2016If you think about it, these songs make perfect sense. Harbaugh certainly has a lot of energy, and Michigan is about to be sponsored by Jordan (hence, Jumpman).Harbaugh also has a reputation for building up programs and franchises (Stanford, the 49ers) from the “bottom” and he went “home” to come coach at his alma mater. Why is “Hotline Bling” on the list? We’re not sure, but we really want someone to photoshop Harbaugh onto Drake for the dance scenes in that video. Someone on the internet should be able to oblige our request.

What Michigan players could pose a threat to OSU’s defense? The key to Michigan’s offense is junior quarterback Denard Robinson. Robinson is a dual-threat to run and pass the ball and has gotten better each year in the Michigan program. Robinson has passed for 1791 yards and 15 touchdowns on the year, but has also rushed for 947 yards and 14 touchdowns. Despite his success, he has shown a tendency to turn the ball over this year and has amassed 14 interceptions on the season. Ohio State head coach Luke Fickell said he’s wary of the Michigan quarterback. “He poses a lot of problems,” Fickell said. “Any defensive anytime the quarterback’s got the ability to keep plays alive, running the football, it makes you struggle a little bit on defense with some things you can do and the chances you can take.” Can freshman quarterback Braxton Miller handle the “Big House?” Playing in front of 110,000 is always a daunting task, but has to be especially intimidating to a true freshman quarterback. OSU quarterback Braxton Miller has backed down from pressure all season, but Michigan Stadium will be a different test. The last Buckeye freshman quarterback to play in the OSU-Michigan didn’t seem to have any problem — former OSU signal-called Terrelle Pryor led OSU to a 42-7 victory as a freshman in 2008. Fickell said he doesn’t think Miller will have any problems. “I think that Braxton will continue to do what he’s done,” Miller said. “He’s a competitor. And sometimes the best thing you can be as a young guy and not realize exactly the magnitude of some different things.” Will the Buckeyes be at full strength Saturday? Senior linebacker Andrew Sweat missed last week’s game against Penn State with a concussion. Sweat has been ruled out for Saturday’s game due to an elbow injury he sustained during a Wednesday practice. The only other Buckeye who’s status is uncertain is sophomore defensive back Christian Bryant. Fickell also called Bryant “questionable.” Final score prediction: OSU 20, Michigan 31 Can Ohio State continue their dominance and beat Michigan? OSU has won its last seven meetings against Michigan with the last lost coming in 2003. On average the Buckeyes have won by an average of over two touchdowns as 15.7 points per game. But this year OSU comes into Ann Arbor as the unranked underdog coming off back-to-back losses. Michigan is ranked No. 15 and is coming off consecutive victories against Illinois and Nebraska. Fickell disregarded the notion of being an underdog and said that in a rivalry like this, records don’t matter. “In a rivalry like this, a lot of those things go out of the window and records go out of the window, and a lot of things are going to be scrapped,” Fickell said. “There’s going to be unbelievable passion on both sides of the football because of what this means.” Fickell will be sure his players know the importance of the game, but the OSU defense has struggled all season against teams that can run the ball on the edge, something Michigan specializes in. Expect Robinson and the Wolverines to end OSU’s winning streak.
Redshirt-sophomore quarterback Cardale Jones (12) carries the ball during the Big Ten Championship Game against Wisconsin on Dec. 6 in Indianapolis. OSU won, 59-0.Credit: Mark Batke / Photo editorAs most people that follow Ohio State football know well, redshirt-sophomore quarterback Cardale Jones’ career in Scarlet and Gray did not get off to the greatest of starts.Behind then-sophomore quarterback Braxton Miller and then-junior Kenny Guiton, Jones sent out the now infamous tweet claiming his dislike for school.Jones was suspended one game by coach Urban Meyer, who said Thursday that Jones’ journey as a Buckeye is not over just yet, despite the recent success.“Cardale is a great story. It’s still in process now,” Meyer said Thursday. “He’s not the grown man that he needs to be, but he’s getting close.”For Meyer, Jones took a big step in his maturity process in his first ever start as a Buckeye in the 2014 Big Ten Championship Game. But it wasn’t the 266 total yards or three touchdowns that impressed Meyer the most in that game.“The thing that really struck me is when he made a mistake during the course of the game … he looked me right in the eye and said, ‘I made a mistake, coach. It won’t happen again.’ I said, ‘Go back and tell the offensive line that,’” Meyer said. “That’s a good sign of maturity.”OSU co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Ed Warinner said Thursday that he too has noticed Jones’ development, more specifically as a quarterback.“Cardale has come a long way in terms of the first time I watched him practice and throw the ball, to where he is at now — tremendous development,” Warinner said. “Credit to him and his (position) coach (Tom Herman) for the way he has developed his technique.”Jones said Thursday that after the infamous tweet, he was able to begin his turnaround because of a second chance given to him by the coaching staff.“The coaches gave me that fresh start. I never really thought about going somewhere else,” Jones said. “The coaches basically told me I needed to get my act together and mature off the field before I could be a starting quarterback here.”Being the starting quarterback at OSU brings a lot of pressure, and Jones said he has relied on a core group of people that includes his brothers, sisters, mother and even an OSU Heisman Trophy winner and fellow Glenville alumnus. It’s a relationship with Troy Smith — an influential relationship that Jones described as “weird.”“At times, he comes off as a great friend and great mentor, and then he can be that coach,” Jones said. “He can be that hard-nosed guy out of nowhere. It is very similar to (my relationship with Glenville) coach (Ted) Ginn (Sr.).”In his first start against the Wisconsin Badgers, Jones led an OSU offense that totaled 558 total yards of offense on the then-No. 2 ranked defense in the country.Entering the Sugar Bowl and College Football Playoff semi-final game against No. 1 Alabama, Warinner added that Jones has not yet reached his full potential despite the impressive first start.“He is one of those guys that has a lot of talent and a high ceiling. He played well in his first outing, and he has really continued to develop that here in practice as we are getting ready for Alabama,” Warinner said.Entering the game against Alabama, the Buckeyes other co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Tom Herman is preparing to take over the head coaching duties at Houston, which was announced earlier in the week. While Herman will remain with OSU until the end of its run in the playoffs, Meyer said he has noticed Herman has been slightly on edge since taking the job at Houston.“Looks like someone hit him with a bat when he’s walking around here. A good bat though. There are bad bats, and a lot to go on with college football with bad bats,” Meyer said. “He’s a pro. We had a good conversation this morning.”While Herman might be flustered, Jones said he doesn’t anticipate any difference in the way Herman will prepare for the matchup with Alabama.“Definitely not. He is all about Ohio State right now,” Jones said. “He has a whole other team to lead, but that time hasn’t come yet. I believe he said in the press conference that he is going to coach these next two games like he is coming back next year.”While Herman won’t be around next year, he, Jones and the Buckeyes are set to take on the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide on New Years Day at 8:30 p.m. in New Orleans.
Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsApp#Bahamas, August 30, 2017 – Nassau – If she wins, Glenys Hanna Martin would be the first female elected party leader in the country and the first for the Progressive Liberal Party which has a strong heritage of raising up indomitable women. Hanna-Martin about 24 hours ago in a spirited press conference held in the Englerston constituency announced that she will indeed challenge current interim leader, Philip Brave Davis and any others for leadership of the PLP. Hanna Martin is the four-time Member of Parliament for Englerston in Nassau, which is one of the four constituencies which was retained by the PLP in the May 2017 General Elections.Hanna-Martin is already an historical figure within her party, having served as the first woman National Chairman. In her announcement, the mother and grandmother spoke of the distinctions of The Bahamas and Bahamians and reflected on the iconic political movements she witnessed in a front row seat; she said it is time for The Bahamas to move from this place of challenge to a place of harmony.Hanna-Martin set her sights on becoming a change agent for the education system, saying a #PLP under her watch would invest more concretely in the human capital of The Bahamas.Throwing their support behind Hanna-Martin were former ministers and women politicians, Melanie Griffin and Hope Strachan, who agree that Glenys is more than the next leader of the PLP, but the next Prime Minister of The Bahamas.Other areas focused on by #GlenysHannaMartin were health, transformation of inner city communities, substandard housing and scarcity of food. Hanna-Martin said she also plans to modernize the PLP, making Bahamian people the subject and not the object.
